Debre Birhan Polytechnic College is found in Debre Birhan town. It is situated North Shoa Zone Amhara Region. It is located 130 kms North of the capital Addis Ababa. Debre Birhan Polytechnic College was established in 1996 GC as Skill Development Center. It has been promoted to College level in 2007 GC after observing its endeavor in creating skilled manpower and its efforts in contributing towards economic development and ensuring social wellbeing.
The College has been promoted to Polytechnic College level starting from 2011GC.The College is staffed with around 145 academic staff /trainers/ and 42 administrative staff Debre Birhan Polytechnic College is one of the prominent Colleges in the Amhara Regional state. Its contribution to the society and the overall economic development activities of the country is seen from its achievements so far in training competent manpower that the economy needs as well as offer industry extension service for small scale and micro enterprise.
Debre Birhan Polytechnic College is providing training from level I to level V in varied areas of specializations. The training is being provided on line with the national training qualification. The training areas are: Construction, Manufacturing, Automotive Technology, Electrical/Electronics, Textile garment, Hotel and Tourism, Drafting & Surveying, Agriculture and Information Technology. Of these departments, currently training is being conducted up to level V in Construction, Electrical/ Electronics, Information technology, and Auto Mechanics.
